Our friend Erik flew in for the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, and we were so happy to meet up with him!
The dogs hadn't seen Erik in a while, and since Bender Oak has been so friend-sick and homesick, it was great to pile the pups and Erik into the #GreatWhiteBuffalo for a little day trip.
We took Erik to the Jemez Pueblo and Jemez Springs area of New Mexico for a mini "4 hour tour"....It's a little tour we do when we have friends from out of town (especially the East Coast) that aren't familiar with the Southwest. If you want to know more about the Four Hour Tour, check out THIS LINK. to my podcast.
Well, we stopped at Soda Dam to do a bit of exploring, and that made both Erik and Bender Oak pretty happy:
Well, it started to get a bit dark, which made Bender sad:
Apparently he thinks as soon as late afternoon hits, everyone needs to head back home.
Pepper didn't care though:
But if you'd like to learn more about the interesting geological wonders around Jemez, check out this book on Amazon:
I realize books don't do the area justice, but it's a beautiful stop on your way to northwestern New Mexico (like if you're heading to Colorado) and it always helps to learn about an area BEFORE traveling through it (like i'm doing now).
