It RAINED all weekend. And when it wasn't rainy or just gross outside, we had to rush around and get outside chores done because it's getting coolor by the minute.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-z6nc4Vs5HL8/UGkd9w5AMdI/AAAAAAAAMso/mkOrUnuoJzo/s1600/Untitled.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="232" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-z6nc4Vs5HL8/UGkd9w5AMdI/AAAAAAAAMso/mkOrUnuoJzo/s320/Untitled.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Every other time of the year I say "My Favorite Season is Fall"... And I forget about the Muggy Virginia Rain, the allergies...and the pressure headaches. Sigh...But when it is nice outside, it's beautiful.<br />
<br />
So, all of us were stuck inside. I was climbing the walls, so I decided to break out my stamp carving gear and get caught up on carving out some interesting stamps!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KZXbwjHfP8U/UGkeB2QsAtI/AAAAAAAAMsw/T-rqY3UatXA/s1600/eZ390.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="241" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KZXbwjHfP8U/UGkeB2QsAtI/AAAAAAAAMsw/T-rqY3UatXA/s320/eZ390.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Check them out!<br />

<br />
I even carved out some two-sided stamps. Each stamp has it's own theme, and both sides of the stamp compliment that theme!<br />

I'm pretty much up to my ears in stamps already, but I really enjoyed taking the time to just sit with a piece of carving medium and slowly carve away until a cute image appeared. I went ahead and threw a lot of my new stamps on Etsy. I'm sure someone out there will dig them! Here's a mini-preview of what currently hot in my Etsy shop:<br />

So, now that the weather is a lot nicer, I decided to take the two pups out, together for a small day hike!<br />
<br />
We drove to the outskirts of Chesapeake, VA, and got some hiking and Letterboxing done (both finding and planting).
<br />
<br />
<br class="Apple-interchange-newline" />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="270" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/-zvsEo_mj8E?fs=1" width="480"></iframe>
<br />
<br />
We sure had an exhausting day.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Bender and Pepper were eager to get home, but I'm glad they walked together pretty well. I'm sure we'll all work on it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So we headed home...And "shared" a treat!</div>

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JuvpuX4j2K4/UF-HVhPLDlI/AAAAAAAAMmE/lEAtMW_D09s/s1600/IMG_5722a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JuvpuX4j2K4/UF-HVhPLDlI/AAAAAAAAMmE/lEAtMW_D09s/s320/IMG_5722a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
So, I've been in a crochet slump lately. I haven't found time to devote to crocheting, and I haven't found many projects that inspire me to "Make Time".<br />
<br />
Well, recently a co-worker asked me to crochet something for her. From what she described, it sounded like a fairly easy project...and she offered to buy the yarn, and to "not give me a serious deadline" (something I appreciate!). She wanted me to crochet a Baby item. I don't usually crochet these. I did crochet baby stuff when my nephew was born, mostly because I was learning to crochet and needed the practice. But I figured since it was such a small project, I could do it.<br />
<br />
The yarn my coworker picked out was awesome, and the pattern she picked was a JOY to read.<br />
<br />
You can find the pattern here:<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uk-EaQKDy10/UF-KHIGuIDI/AAAAAAAAMmw/s56O0yTm9BY/s1600/IMG_5721bbaa.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="281" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uk-EaQKDy10/UF-KHIGuIDI/AAAAAAAAMmw/s56O0yTm9BY/s320/IMG_5721bbaa.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Now, since I used a different yarn than what the pattern called for, I ran into a couple of issues. Primarily, the yarn is so soft, the buttons don't lay right. Since it's a Baby item, that's an easy fix. The buttons become the back, and I'll just sew a decorative button to the "new" front (formerly the back)!
<br />
<br />
But I did add a couple things that I hope she'll like! I had a little bit of leftover yarn...<br />
<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UcBoBg6KCnM/UF-IUViUEPI/AAAAAAAAMmY/oVIRsXmNFEM/s1600/IMG_5664aa.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="270" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UcBoBg6KCnM/UF-IUViUEPI/AAAAAAAAMmY/oVIRsXmNFEM/s320/IMG_5664aa.jpg" width="320" /></a>
<br />
<br />
So I decided to make a baby hat!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HsO9otNnatI/UF-I4gWO9eI/AAAAAAAAMmg/qvQIU48cq7A/s1600/IMG_5730.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="242" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HsO9otNnatI/UF-I4gWO9eI/AAAAAAAAMmg/qvQIU48cq7A/s320/IMG_5730.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The flower is removeable, just in case she doesn't like it. I think it's kinda cool, and I decided with the inches of yarn I had left, I'd make one for mom too.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yAB15kHdHZk/UF-JY7DfUkI/AAAAAAAAMmo/ySwz_UTTlCA/s1600/IMG_5727.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yAB15kHdHZk/UF-JY7DfUkI/AAAAAAAAMmo/ySwz_UTTlCA/s320/IMG_5727.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's a three layer crochet flower, sewn to a simple pinback. And since it's for Mom, I pinned it to one of my hand stamped cards.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I hope they like it, I'm always insecure about making "wee things" for people. Considering Kids and Babies are the most important thing in the world, I'm always concerned that what I make for them might not be awesome enough.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<br />
When it comes to Bender, we have our activities that we do together to bond and stay active. We hike, we jog, he goes on bike rides with me, and plays tug-o-war.<br />
<br />
Since Pepper has come into my life, I've tried to find activities to share with her so that she feels special. Since Bender's not very good at fetch, the Dog Games<a href="http://shop.kyjen.com/kyjen-dog-games-launch-a-ball.html" target="_blank"> Launch-a-Ball </a>seemed like a great toy to help bond with Pepper!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1teauYrTido/UFqHTD7VzuI/AAAAAAAAMhI/GbLUHro01HI/s1600/IMG_5399_1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1teauYrTido/UFqHTD7VzuI/AAAAAAAAMhI/GbLUHro01HI/s200/IMG_5399_1.JPG" width="200" /></a>
<br />
<br />
The Launch-a-Ball is a super cool tennis ball toy that looks futuristic, and provides ergonomic support while launching tennis balls farther and faster for your pooch to run and fetch!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
When I first unboxed it, the <a href="http://shop.kyjen.com/kyjen-dog-games-launch-a-ball.html" target="_blank">Launch-a-Ball</a> seemed very, very curious...</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lJcMA68PgAI/UFqHUUG3vlI/AAAAAAAAMhQ/jj4zaaqhAyw/s1600/IMG_5400_1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lJcMA68PgAI/UFqHUUG3vlI/AAAAAAAAMhQ/jj4zaaqhAyw/s320/IMG_5400_1.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
But Pepper sniffed out the Tennis Ball, and got excited!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6jI07CRoV-o/UFqHVrYlAzI/AAAAAAAAMhY/VVeHW9vhbUk/s1600/IMG_5401.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6jI07CRoV-o/UFqHVrYlAzI/AAAAAAAAMhY/VVeHW9vhbUk/s320/IMG_5401.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Now, since Pepper is a rescue, I have no clue how familiar she is with toys. This was no different. She seemed pretty eager to check out the Launch-a-Ball.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-V1mO6ctxWyI/UFqK_gVdqxI/AAAAAAAAMiQ/01G3-xMoq3k/s1600/IMG_1897.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-V1mO6ctxWyI/UFqK_gVdqxI/AAAAAAAAMiQ/01G3-xMoq3k/s320/IMG_1897.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The long handle and awesome cup allow for you to avoid dog drool, and also gives you some "arm length" to play around with your pup!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And then... I threw the ball. Pepper took off! Cool, she's familiar with chasing after toys!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fiSSh1U8pRU/UFqMGIPZ2rI/AAAAAAAAMiY/J51c6W376aU/s1600/IMG_1891.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fiSSh1U8pRU/UFqMGIPZ2rI/AAAAAAAAMiY/J51c6W376aU/s320/IMG_1891.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now, will she bring it back?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Yes!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0FBd0VskifU/UFqM2EuVKOI/AAAAAAAAMig/2-g-06WvUpw/s1600/IMG_1903aaaa.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0FBd0VskifU/UFqM2EuVKOI/AAAAAAAAMig/2-g-06WvUpw/s320/IMG_1903aaaa.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For the next hour, I got to play with my new pup Pepper, and it was amazing. Amazing because it's so great to see my new little rescue have fun, and amazing because the entire time I could swing the Launch-a-Ball and send the tennis ball farther and farther! Since Pepper packs a ton of energy in her little pint-size body, she got to run all she wanted, fetching and having a great time!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Apparently, we were having so much fun that Bender decided to jump in on the action, literally!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--Q2OAzHPhVg/UFqPdR-pWBI/AAAAAAAAMjY/HdUQ8McTWtI/s1600/IMG_1887.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--Q2OAzHPhVg/UFqPdR-pWBI/AAAAAAAAMjY/HdUQ8McTWtI/s320/IMG_1887.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
No worries, the ultra rugged (yet totally light-weight) design of Launch-a-Ball can put up with some rough play from Bender Oak!</div>

<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Even though it's slowly cooling down here on the East Coast, that doesn't mean we're suffering from any shortage of Hot n' Humid days. And now that I have TWO Black-Fur covered pups, I'm double-concerned about the amount of time they spend exposed to harsh, hot weather.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
We're planning a trip soon, so I decided to test out the new<a href="http://shop.kyjen.com/pet-shelters/" target="_blank"> Outward Hound XL Shade Shelter</a>. It's a super neato portable tent for your pups to get them out of the sun and give 'em a chance to cool down.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CVvPQw74uls/UFflfLnw06I/AAAAAAAAMeE/piW-An0icfw/s1600/IMG_5575.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CVvPQw74uls/UFflfLnw06I/AAAAAAAAMeE/piW-An0icfw/s200/IMG_5575.JPG" width="150" /></a> <a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eXK4eQ-ElWc/UFflhhKVz6I/AAAAAAAAMeU/GFrVGe4onUA/s1600/IMG_5577.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eXK4eQ-ElWc/UFflhhKVz6I/AAAAAAAAMeU/GFrVGe4onUA/s200/IMG_5577.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The <a href="http://shop.kyjen.com/pet-shelters/" target="_blank">Outward Hound XL Shade Shelter</a> is just like a People Tent, except for two things:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1. It's got an open front, so your dog doesn't have to worry about tent flaps getting in the way while they enter or leave.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2. It's SUPER EASY to put up, unlike a People Tent!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
That's right, the folks at Kyjen realize you've got your hands full with active furry friends and an active lifestyle, so they didn't create a painstakingly difficult Shelter that required hours of put up and assembly. I'm kinda jealous, Bender and Pepper's tent is 10x easier to set up than mine is (and I love the Neon Green and Gray Colors). As you can see below, Bender felt it was necessary to help me set the tent up. This of course added only 3 minutes to the total assembly time of FIVE MINUTES (1 minute looking at the diagram, 3 minutes letting Bender know "I got this, bro", 1 minute to assemble).</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-QWwikxK2u74/UFfli-lzjZI/AAAAAAAAMec/0XdSpCZSt_4/s1600/IMG_5584.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-QWwikxK2u74/UFfli-lzjZI/AAAAAAAAMec/0XdSpCZSt_4/s320/IMG_5584.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now, Bender was a bit wary of the Outward Hound Shade Shelter... I had to put one of his new toys in it to get him to check it out. I suggest doing the same in case your dog isn't used to tents or new places.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IA77-cMpb5Q/UFflsmweHOI/AAAAAAAAMes/xPw9QpfF9tM/s1600/IMG_5591.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IA77-cMpb5Q/UFflsmweHOI/AAAAAAAAMes/xPw9QpfF9tM/s320/IMG_5591.JPG" width="320" /></a>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Of course, Pepper Willow wasn't scared at all. As soon as Dark fell and it started to sprinkle outside, she decided this was the perfect place to put her toys. All of them (including Bender's).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I "accidently" left the Shade Shelter out overnight, in the Rain. The "pup tent" did very well in a light storm, and it was the first thing Bender went and checked out the next morning!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Hj1cGcTsNqA/UFflkVDBieI/AAAAAAAAMek/ACoy_ITsTZo/s1600/IMG_5588.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Hj1cGcTsNqA/UFflkVDBieI/AAAAAAAAMek/ACoy_ITsTZo/s320/IMG_5588.JPG" width="320" /></a>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I figured "XL" meant the Shade Shelter would accommodate Bender, but it turns out, I could fit Bender Oak, Pepper Willow, and possibly another dog in the Shade Shelter. I can't wait to bring this to Carolina and have Bender, Pepper, and their friend Boats just chilling in it!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I think this is an awesome idea, and I plan to take this on our next hiking trip, considering it packs relatively light, and packs quickly. But the Shade Shelter isn't just for hiking and camping. I think the Shade Shelter is going to accompany all of us at the next Outdoor Fair, Dog event, picnic, or even when I plan to help my friends shoot pictures (Bender usually tags along with me for that). Its the perfect "Go sit down" place for Bender, like a little safety spot he can go to when he's done playing, gets bored, or just needs to get away.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
You can pick up your own Outward XL Shade Shelter through the Kyjen website<a href="http://shop.kyjen.com/pet-shelters/" target="_blank"> HERE</a>.</div>

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uyI0ZSuiXyQ/UFFvwv6K6PI/AAAAAAAAMck/I08U4oQ00Qc/s1600/IMG_1151a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uyI0ZSuiXyQ/UFFvwv6K6PI/AAAAAAAAMck/I08U4oQ00Qc/s320/IMG_1151a.jpg" width="288" /></a>
<br />
<br />
The Vintage Trout Basket handed down to us from Mr. Imray was so full of tiny little surprises.<br />
<br />
It was like opening a Time Capsule, with little surprises everytime you lifted a lid, opened a box, unscrewed a container.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Y4v0kU9x46U/UFFwAAIBdUI/AAAAAAAAMcs/kvnuA8idqqw/s1600/IMG_1155.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Y4v0kU9x46U/UFFwAAIBdUI/AAAAAAAAMcs/kvnuA8idqqw/s320/IMG_1155.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm not sure this is "vintage-vintage" but check out the tiny little compartments on this Fly Fishing box:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mxAESINaXX0/UFFwlZARAlI/AAAAAAAAMc8/aGWY4DjsRW4/s1600/IMG_5295.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mxAESINaXX0/UFFwlZARAlI/AAAAAAAAMc8/aGWY4DjsRW4/s320/IMG_5295.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Two of my FAVORITE Things were, of course, metal, and totally kitsch.</div>
<br />
I'm in love with this simple little box. The oversized Troutfish and branding are so cute.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IOh-q5NCD_g/UFFwJYhyTQI/AAAAAAAAMc0/PneVLjHpfYI/s1600/IMG_1236.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="248" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IOh-q5NCD_g/UFFwJYhyTQI/AAAAAAAAMc0/PneVLjHpfYI/s320/IMG_1236.JPG" width="320" /></a>
<br />
<br />
And here's the most awesome thing (I think) in the Trout Basket was this:<br />
<br />
It's an old BoyScouts Compass!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LGfrQ68egjw/UFFwmpV1pXI/AAAAAAAAMdE/tM5rpIoJXKM/s1600/IMG_5304.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LGfrQ68egjw/UFFwmpV1pXI/AAAAAAAAMdE/tM5rpIoJXKM/s320/IMG_5304.JPG" width="320" /></a>
<br />
This is the Taylor "Leedawl" Boyscouts compass. I'm having a hard time finding information about it. The Leedawl compasses I've found show that they were all made of Bakelite (because of the War)...So the fact this is a Metal one (and in it's original box), is really unique. <br />
<br />
I wish I could find out more about it. But for now, I just get to daydream about it. Wonder if this compass survived WWII in England, or was one of the small, precious belongings brought to America by a young man... Cherished so much, he etched his initials into the back.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_ULztLoV-1E/UFFwoLi0ofI/AAAAAAAAMdM/iEZ9MNBX_JA/s1600/IMG_5313.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_ULztLoV-1E/UFFwoLi0ofI/AAAAAAAAMdM/iEZ9MNBX_JA/s320/IMG_5313.JPG" width="320" /></a>
<br />
<br />
I love this little compass. It's functional, rare (I think), historical, cherished, and has seen more of this world than I have. And I'm glad I could share it with you.<br />
<br />
Thanks for reading!<br />

The other week I blogged "Part 1" of some lovely vintage finds that our friend Mr. Imray handed down to the Cannon Family...<br />

We're pretty psyched. It's rare to get "found"/noticed out in the world wide web, so a big "Thank you" to Cap Creations, and a total shout-out in this post!

Also, the LeftOvers4Dinner Etsy shop got featured this weekend in a "big-time" Etsy Treasury!<br />

Hands-free Miracles from Outward Hound!So, I've got two pups now....<br />
<br />
Bender Oak, who is charming, 80lbs, and treats every walk like a serious trek through the Amazon jungle:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AG4ZW2xfQfM/UExCRn0WrRI/AAAAAAAAMbg/_1JWwfrYy9I/s1600/WP_000151.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AG4ZW2xfQfM/UExCRn0WrRI/AAAAAAAAMbg/_1JWwfrYy9I/s320/WP_000151.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And Pepper Willow, the adorable little 10.4 lb Cinderella Pup rescued in Carolina:<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OiU3mv0mnww/UEw4GEgsvmI/AAAAAAAAMZU/NMQaCz7OkhY/s1600/IMG_5389.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OiU3mv0mnww/UEw4GEgsvmI/AAAAAAAAMZU/NMQaCz7OkhY/s320/IMG_5389.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Don't be fooled, she's no Couch Potato!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Now, I could take each of these guys on their own little adventures, but I feel it's essential to strengthen the "Family Pack" mentality of everyone in the household. <br />
<br />
So right now, I'm struggling to take them on walks together.<br />
<br />
Bender is part "sight-hound", he loves to stare at the sky, trees, the roof... He wakes up early in the morning and sits out in the back yard watching the birds in the neighbors yard. He chases squirrels. When we hike, he's the one yelling at me to "keep up" and reminding me we have more things to see and do.<br />
<br />
Pepper is the opposite. I know she's a "Chi-weenie" but somewhere in her family tree is a breed full of sniffers and hunters. When she gets outside, she's nose to the ground, and she won't budge until she's figured out what smells so interesting, and where it's gone. I'm currently teaching her "leave it" (alone), but it's a slow process. She's full of short bursts of energy, followed by long stops to smell the roses (or animal scent, or bug, or someone's dropped bubble gum)...<br />
<br />
Having two dogs of two different personalities/types is a little challenging, especially on walks. They both are very interested in walks, but for different reasons. Our first walk together was terrible. They were dragging me in two different directions. I was tugged, Pepper dug her heels in the ground til she sniffed out a bug, Bender got impatient with both of us...Just a disaster. Like drawn and quartered disaster and I regretted taking everyone out that day type disaster... I even dropped my camera (don't tell<a href="http://www.cheapgeek.net/" target="_blank"> CheapGeek</a>).<br />
<br />
Luckily for us, the Good Folks at Outward Hound (Kyjen) have two "Hands-free" miracles that have definitely saved the day. The <a href="http://shop.kyjen.com/kyjen-outward-hound-leash-mate-blue.html" target="_blank">Outward Hound Leashmate</a> and the <a href="http://shop.kyjen.com/kyjen-outward-hound-hands-free-jogger-green.html" target="_blank">Outward Hound Hands-free Hipster</a>!<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0IfNSbnznqY/UEw_EX_9y2I/AAAAAAAAMaw/hO5ctdo_Cjg/s1600/IMG_5471.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="257" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0IfNSbnznqY/UEw_EX_9y2I/AAAAAAAAMaw/hO5ctdo_Cjg/s320/IMG_5471.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Bender is super excited to check out our new gear from Outward Hound!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
The <a href="http://shop.kyjen.com/kyjen-outward-hound-leash-mate-blue.html" target="_blank">Outward Hound Leashmate</a> is perfect for both quick walks in your yoga pants, and serious day trips where you're walking for a while out in a public place. When I first opend the box for the Leashmate, I was super excited. The Leashmate features super sturdy velcro straps to attach it to your dog's leash, a front pocket to store poopie bags, back pocket to store keys or wallet, and an ultra sturdy design.<br />
<br />
It's a very, very sturdy accessory. The velcro is very high quality, and during a walk with Bender only, I was amazed at the amount of abuse the velcro took. The front pocket also includes a dispenser slit so you can pull poopie bags on demand! While i didn't put my wallet in the sturdy large pocket, I did put extra poopie bags and my keys in there. Which was awesome! I like to have my keys on-hand at all times, and having them at the ready when our walk was done prevented countless minutes digging through my purse (or worse, my day pack) while a thirsty Bender got antsy.<br />
<br />
I highly recommend keeping the box to the Leashmate for a couple of days (or just leave it on your leash) so that you can remember how to set it up your leash. In case you're like me, and stashed the box "someplace safe", here's how to install the Leashmate:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9iSVc8R0-Qo/UEw-CWpsIjI/AAAAAAAAMaQ/TR8l7IQ24mY/s1600/IMG_5474.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9iSVc8R0-Qo/UEw-CWpsIjI/AAAAAAAAMaQ/TR8l7IQ24mY/s200/IMG_5474.JPG" width="200" /></a> <a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yfO2Tq3aGWc/UEw-EbpAHPI/AAAAAAAAMaY/jAoZyG9hRFU/s1600/IMG_5475.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yfO2Tq3aGWc/UEw-EbpAHPI/AAAAAAAAMaY/jAoZyG9hRFU/s200/IMG_5475.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The Outward Hound Hands-Free Hipster is exactly what it sounds like, it goes on your hip, and you don't have to worry about always holding a leash. Now, I was a bit wary of this product, because honestly, it looks like a fanny pack, but after using it on only one walk, I'm totally in love with it!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PxK-XCUbv8M/UEw-7nrSxdI/AAAAAAAAMao/LIFaipKEqt0/s1600/IMG_5472.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="244" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PxK-XCUbv8M/UEw-7nrSxdI/AAAAAAAAMao/LIFaipKEqt0/s320/IMG_5472.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Hipster comes with a short leash, but you could probably use it with a longer or heavy duty leash if you have a larger dog. Since Pepper is new, and young, I appreciated the shorter (about 5 foot) leash that came with it. I'm sure a jogger or day hiker would want a longer one.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It's also got a section for poopie bags, but you can also pull out a mesh drink carrier from it. For me, this is the perfect place to store my portable video camera when I need to pause and take care of the dogs! there's a full size wallet pocket (it even fit my oversized girly wallet), and elastic bands so that the belt will fit comfortably on your waist.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here's something awesome about the Hipster:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

I just had to share our "Test" walk with both products. </div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Yep, I may not have solved the "Always going in two directions" issue, but hey, I'm mostly hands free! I was able to NOT drop my camera, drop my phone, spill my water, or worry about both dogs while talking to the neighbors. So awesome!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rUj8LXUvS5E/UExEdo5wSjI/AAAAAAAAMbw/SBxnENtaJ2s/s1600/IMG_5479.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rUj8LXUvS5E/UExEdo5wSjI/AAAAAAAAMbw/SBxnENtaJ2s/s200/IMG_5479.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
When somebody had to potty, I didn't have to stop everything, open up my pack, find the poopie bag container, and then struggle with both hands already full to get them out. Super convenient!</div>

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In all, both products are awesome. I think I'll be using the Leashmate primarily on rough day hikes with just Bender, and the Hipster when we're all out together (which is usually the case). Both products are ingenius solutions to the "Hands Full" dilemma... Cus in the end, a walk isn't supposed to wear me out and make me ragged... It's supposed to calm these two down so WE ALL can enjoy the simple pleasures, like chilling outdoors in beautiful locations!</div>

It was pretty grueling, considering I haven't felt too well the past week or so.<br />
<br />
I've updated the shop with a lovely new batch of Vintage Rings and Jewelry. There's still more to go, and I plan to have even more Sterling Spoon rings listed by the end of the weekend!<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1gpYK-nsLGo/UErQxtPgbBI/AAAAAAAAMW0/3MpV23TNnEc/s1600/IMG_5419a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1gpYK-nsLGo/UErQxtPgbBI/AAAAAAAAMW0/3MpV23TNnEc/s320/IMG_5419a.jpg" width="276" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Shabby Chic Edwards & Holmes Sterling Spoon Ring</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
I also plan to list some Vintage Clothes, but I just have to figure out how to take pictures of them. I don't list a lot of Vintage Clothes anymore, the market for them just doesn't seem to be what it used to be 10 years ago (No, I'm not old, I've just been doing this for a while). But I picked up some rather unique shirts this month and I'm also letting some things go out of my "Permanent" collection. I haven't done a lot of clothing photography at my new place, so it's gonna be fun (sarcasm!).<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2Fc0Yzxo7iY/UDhjoa8lv7I/AAAAAAAAMSk/qsz91dpBaLo/s1600/IMG_1203.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2Fc0Yzxo7iY/UDhjoa8lv7I/AAAAAAAAMSk/qsz91dpBaLo/s320/IMG_1203.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We were really honored to have some lovely old fishing gear passed down to us! There were so many interesting old goodies in there, and we couldn't wait to open it up. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XjM4E4uvSxk/UDhkW7wGZsI/AAAAAAAAMSs/dQymmSkPDVc/s1600/IMG_1156.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XjM4E4uvSxk/UDhkW7wGZsI/AAAAAAAAMSs/dQymmSkPDVc/s320/IMG_1156.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
There were all sorts of neato old trout flies and lures, even an old handmade wooden bobber!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Some of the coolest things we found in the kit weren't totally related to fishing, but were definitely old, and definitely showed a passion for the outdoors, even at a young age!</div>

<br />
His favorite thing to chew on is large rawhide bones, but he chews through them so quickly, and then spends the whole night with a belly ache groaning....<br />
<br />
When I try to introduce new toys, he's really wary of them, and often, leaves them to get worn out and destroyed by the elements outdoors.<br />
<br />
I tried one of those "durable" chew toys, but ran into some problems:<br />
<br />
1. Bender has "bird dog" in his genes somewhere, and his jaw is not as strong as other dogs. I could tell the durable chew toys for his "size" were too heavy to tote around the back yard and enjoy.<br />
<br />
2. Some of the durable toys either smelled weird, or didn't smell at all. Bender's a finicky eater, and definitely a finicky chewer. He'd rather chew on a 2 day old granny smith apple that's fallen off the tree than some of the toys I've spent good money on!<br />
<br />
I've been looking for alternatives that still reward Bender, but also aren't a toy that requires constant refill or Bender wouldn't lose interest in. I had heard that the <a href="https://shop.kyjen.com/dog-games/" target="_blank">Seamsters toy</a> wasn't to bulky, and was a great alternative to just giving your dog rawhide bones all the time, so I was definitely interested in it.<br />
<br />
Here's the Toy I got!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-phDJ1cepbYU/UDhRAzEL5lI/AAAAAAAAMOg/_S8pe4ROrQ8/s1600/IMG_1364.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-phDJ1cepbYU/UDhRAzEL5lI/AAAAAAAAMOg/_S8pe4ROrQ8/s320/IMG_1364.JPG" width="320" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wGylA8f_zW0/UDhRAEypN5I/AAAAAAAAMOY/r5-6pld2pcA/s1600/IMG_1363good.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wGylA8f_zW0/UDhRAEypN5I/AAAAAAAAMOY/r5-6pld2pcA/s320/IMG_1363good.jpg" width="230" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: start;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: start;">When I saw the Seamster's toy, I was totally intrigued. It's part rawhide, which Bender loves, and it's also a puzzle, which keeps his brain active! Considering this is the pup who's favorite thing is to find the CheapGeeks socks and pile them by "feel" into like piles, he needs all the brain stimulation he can get.</span>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: start;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gsr402yey3A/UDhR3nff6WI/AAAAAAAAMOo/3U0p0Qt1Kfw/s1600/IMG_1367.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gsr402yey3A/UDhR3nff6WI/AAAAAAAAMOo/3U0p0Qt1Kfw/s320/IMG_1367.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The back of the package has complete instructions, and is super informative. I've put the instructions up on my fridge so I can remember how to refill the bone. Cool thing? The Seamsters bone comes with two refills!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
When I took it out of the package, I was a bit worried. The Seamsters bone has a noticeable aroma, and I wasn't sure if Bender would like it (remember, he's picky). So, I soaked the whole bone in warm water for a few hours (with the rawhide in place), then I took it out and let it dry thoroughly.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
When I gave it to Ben, he was curious....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QlpiIybgBcs/UDhTHjs-D7I/AAAAAAAAMOw/Za9ehpBwszg/s1600/IMG_1368a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="277" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QlpiIybgBcs/UDhTHjs-D7I/AAAAAAAAMOw/Za9ehpBwszg/s400/IMG_1368a.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
and so was someone else....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AfTZb-5ZO-8/UDhTndg4ygI/AAAAAAAAMO4/7rx7sA7brME/s1600/IMG_1369a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="296" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AfTZb-5ZO-8/UDhTndg4ygI/AAAAAAAAMO4/7rx7sA7brME/s400/IMG_1369a.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
At first, he was a little hesitant, he wasn't sure how to "deal" with it. The Seamsters bone is surprisingly lightweight (for a durable chew toy), so it wasn't too difficult to pick up or drag around the yard....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TbO_9VdVzUY/UDhUH9zCe7I/AAAAAAAAMPQ/J1mVrVpIY88/s1600/IMG_1382.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="133" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TbO_9VdVzUY/UDhUH9zCe7I/AAAAAAAAMPQ/J1mVrVpIY88/s200/IMG_1382.JPG" width="200" /></a>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
To get Bender more interested in the Seamsters bone, I started playing with it like I was totally into the Seamsters bone, and he got interested too!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JFA527NO9Ts/UDhUFJ_xL4I/AAAAAAAAMPA/l7XBMOGMDs8/s1600/IMG_1378.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="133" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JFA527NO9Ts/UDhUFJ_xL4I/AAAAAAAAMPA/l7XBMOGMDs8/s200/IMG_1378.JPG" width="200" /></a> <a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mAEiCF1Lqa8/UDhUGGy191I/AAAAAAAAMPI/CiuWg4-dWN0/s1600/IMG_1379.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="133" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mAEiCF1Lqa8/UDhUGGy191I/AAAAAAAAMPI/CiuWg4-dWN0/s200/IMG_1379.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Bender chewed on it quite a bit! When he figured out how to get one of the ends unraveled, he celebrated!</div>

Part of it includes her relocating to another area of the state (not too far) and starting a new job. It's exciting, and frightening, at the same time. And even though some things we do to make our lives better, and the path of life takes many unexpected turns, some re-assurance every now and then is important.<br />
<br />
I'm very proud of her, and feel that everything she's doing is ABSOLUTELY for the best. I think part of these baby steps are going to help her GROW into an even more awesome person that i've always visualized her as being.<br />
<br />
But at little bit of this was unexpected. I wanted to make her something before she started her new job!<br />
<br />
I had to think quick. I've been a little quiet lately, because I've been working on a bunch of different projects.<br />
<br />
A couple months ago, I was at the Dollar store, I saw these neato Ribbon Necklaces. On an impulse, i bought them, but really haven't used them too much. Well, the other weekend, I went back, and found some "Nail Art Decoration" kits. Oddly enough, the bottles in them are IDENTICAL to the bottles you see on those Terrarium necklaces being sold all over the place.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WBmNiLhN9zI/UB69IGQJLgI/AAAAAAAAMFk/QvXSRsx4iJs/s1600/IMG_4910.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="242" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WBmNiLhN9zI/UB69IGQJLgI/AAAAAAAAMFk/QvXSRsx4iJs/s320/IMG_4910.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
So, an Idea was born, lol. Basically, Let's make a $60 Anthropologie style Terrarium necklace, using $2 worth of stuff!<br />
<br />
First, I went and read up on some local live mosses in my area. You should look for mosses that are very hardy and can last a long time. You can do that through a simple online search, as well as various garden and plant wikis.<br />
<br />
Then I cleaned out the bottles. Some of them had sequins in them, others had glitter or faux jewels. Kinda tacky, but I held onto some of the jewels. I think I might put a single jewel in future necklaces!<br />
<br />
Get yourself a pair of Tweezers, and a fine Crochet hook. You'll need to use both to put your live plants into your Bottles.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AZS1OBj8yn8/UCmyaU4cbgI/AAAAAAAAMIc/ml9J9NrZntw/s1600/IMG_4936.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AZS1OBj8yn8/UCmyaU4cbgI/AAAAAAAAMIc/ml9J9NrZntw/s320/IMG_4936.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Use the tweezers to place individual plants in the bottle. You can also grab individual plants and "shake"/brush excess dirt off of them with the tweezers. Since it's a moss, it usually doesn't need a lot of soil to keep going. If you decide to dry out your moss and wear a preserved terrarium, the tweezers can help you pick the excess dirt off.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IbbFwXjrLuM/UCmy7Bf-4tI/AAAAAAAAMIk/Fbijziv-Y4g/s1600/IMG_4942.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IbbFwXjrLuM/UCmy7Bf-4tI/AAAAAAAAMIk/Fbijziv-Y4g/s320/IMG_4942.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hRe2YBnk-Nk/UCmzOrsF2LI/AAAAAAAAMI0/_bzYmGbVTro/s1600/IMG_4945.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hRe2YBnk-Nk/UCmzOrsF2LI/AAAAAAAAMI0/_bzYmGbVTro/s320/IMG_4945.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Use the crochet hook to position moss, rocks, and little extras to your liking!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4z8yxlRZYGA/UCmzNlE60JI/AAAAAAAAMIs/lD9loaU7kXE/s1600/IMG_4943.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4z8yxlRZYGA/UCmzNlE60JI/AAAAAAAAMIs/lD9loaU7kXE/s320/IMG_4943.JPG" width="320" /></a>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After I've setup my terrarium necklaces the way I like them, I let them sit with the caps off overnight. Be sure to keep them away from air conditioning vents, bright lamps, or excess heat. The necklace below had moss cultivated from fresh soil, rich in moisture. I wanted just enough moisture in my terrarium to keep the plant alive, but not too much to start mildew and rot.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KuRe1nVfc-A/UCmzos6RjlI/AAAAAAAAMJA/UjWbiKr8pQ4/s1600/IMG_4937.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KuRe1nVfc-A/UCmzos6RjlI/AAAAAAAAMJA/UjWbiKr8pQ4/s320/IMG_4937.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After twenty four hours, place some charms or extras inside, and close it up! You can either seal it shut, or you can put a tiny dab of E6000 on one edge. That way, you can still open it and remove a plant that isn't doing so well, or change out the charms!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I put a little "Sprout - Grow" charm in this one, because I want my friend Liz to really thrive and grow with her new future and thrive in the great things this world has to offer.</div>
<br />
That's why this one has a little clover in it!<br />
<br />

<br />
Add Pretty ribbon necklace, sterling wrapped glass leaf charm, and gift box! Ta-Da! Gift for your friend standing at the cross roads of a new journey! A little wish-jar terrarium to carry with them!<br />

<br />
We've spent a few days in Western North Carolina, and had a blast hanging out with family and catching up....<br />
<br />
It's also a complete JOY to sleep in and still know that Bender Oak is so cherished he gets a his necessary morning constitution (thanks to Grampa CheapGeek)!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oYmbX4mhxR4/UCnLFWAw5YI/AAAAAAAAMKk/6wWgLG7yD_U/s1600/IMG_1079.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oYmbX4mhxR4/UCnLFWAw5YI/AAAAAAAAMKk/6wWgLG7yD_U/s320/IMG_1079.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well, this weekend was ESPECIALLY Busy, despite the lazy schedule!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We went to the<a href="http://www.sourwoodfestival.com/" target="_blank"> Sourwood Festival </a>in <a href="http://www.blackmountain.org/festivals.php" target="_blank">downtown Black Mountain</a>! It was a little bit of a let-down this year (according to locals). Everyone closed up early, and there weren't nearly as many vendors interested in marketing their wares/trade/goods to people as previous years. There was also a shortage of the festival's primary trade: Honey. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So, a little bummed by this, we went on down to our local Black Mountain Tractor Supply....and look what we picked up:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GXzXc26pocs/UCnNBdx8jiI/AAAAAAAAMKs/nEOU3WUSMdQ/s1600/WP_000494.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GXzXc26pocs/UCnNBdx8jiI/AAAAAAAAMKs/nEOU3WUSMdQ/s200/WP_000494.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Yeah, this little pip-squeak was pan-handling out front of the store. Just Joking! This cute little pup is from <a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/Rustys-Legacy/113025858754383" target="_blank">Rusty's Legacy</a>. Rusty's Legacy is a small, non-profit pet rescue located here in Western North Carolina. You can check them out on Facebook <a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/Rustys-Legacy/113025858754383" target="_blank">HERE</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Well, the CheapGeek took one look at this slightly underweight, stressed little pup and took a liking to her. When she instantly responded to him, and interacted with him intelligently, his mind was made up!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
She's a "Chi-weenie", which is supposed to be a designer mix between a Daschund and a Chihuahua. Tiny, at only a year old (we think), she barely weighs more than Bender's backpack!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OnaLVRkX3mw/UCnPwRj985I/AAAAAAAAMLg/GxfafTcyXqA/s1600/WP_000629.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OnaLVRkX3mw/UCnPwRj985I/AAAAAAAAMLg/GxfafTcyXqA/s200/WP_000629.jpg" width="200" /></a>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And... she totally digs me. She's full of kisses, and "Chihuahua dances" when I walk into the room. I'm not used to it. I'm not a small dog person, at all. I'm a big slobbery huntin' hound kinda girl.... But this lonely little girl is very charming, and has started to grow on me!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yOeOmKZcsK0/UCnPuwfsOpI/AAAAAAAAMLY/f8FBJ9w4ENc/s1600/WP_000620.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yOeOmKZcsK0/UCnPuwfsOpI/AAAAAAAAMLY/f8FBJ9w4ENc/s200/WP_000620.jpg" width="150" /></a>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
When we got her home, we got her set up with a little Bed, and some extras. CheapGeek's brother even donated a really high-end small dog harness to her!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vAKtsXcxxQc/UCnPxLAdWEI/AAAAAAAAMLo/Sy1TfJgencE/s1600/WP_000664a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="258" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vAKtsXcxxQc/UCnPxLAdWEI/AAAAAAAAMLo/Sy1TfJgencE/s320/WP_000664a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
She's very grateful for her new toy, Ms. Sock Monkey. Originally, she tried to take Bender Oak's Sock Monkey ("Mr. Pickles, Take II), and that just wouldn't do.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And we've been concerned about that. Bender's needed a buddy for a while. With my new schedule, he's got one day where I'm gone for the whole day. It's great that I get to work from home the rest of the week (thank you job-that-pays-the-bills), but I've just felt that Bender's needed a friend for a while now.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
We've had a little bit of trouble naming her, mostly because the more she gets acclimated to her new home, the more she opens up. We wanted to keep with the same name structure as Ben, "Bender Oak Cannon". A first name, a tree name, and then the family name. So far, we've decided on the first name!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
It's been about two days, and she's had quite a few meals put in her belly, and a couple of nights full rest in her new little bed, and a good bath to soothe her skin. So, I present to you: Pepper!</div>

<br />
I haven't been online in the past week or so, I've been awfully busy with taking care of Bender, fixing up my Etsy shop, and planning for my trip!<br />
<br />
...And, I've also been crafting, ALOT.<br />
<br />
Since it's summer time, the thrift shops have tons of sweaters in them, all of them marked down super cheap. Some of them are really expensive sweaters, Angora, Cashmere, Mohair, etc...<br />
<br />
It's tragic to see such beautiful sweaters sit there, unsold.<br />
<br />
It's also tragic that some of these sweaters will never be bought or worn. They need to be Re-Purposed!<br />
<br />
Luxury yarns can be expensive, some skeins of laceweight cashmere yarn run upwards of $40 or $90 dollars! OMG.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-sVzSV5laMAg/UB9s-fzZLXI/AAAAAAAAMGU/Xwe5FJe6ne0/s1600/IMG_4738.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-sVzSV5laMAg/UB9s-fzZLXI/AAAAAAAAMGU/Xwe5FJe6ne0/s200/IMG_4738.JPG" width="150" /></a>
<br />
Well, why not go to the thrift shop and get your own luxury yarn?<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-avPSsSjN_UU/UB9sKOF3yGI/AAAAAAAAMGM/tLH-ouw04Cc/s1600/IMG_4749.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-avPSsSjN_UU/UB9sKOF3yGI/AAAAAAAAMGM/tLH-ouw04Cc/s320/IMG_4749.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">100% Cashmere yarn sweater, purchased for $1.39!!!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I decided to do a video on recycling/reclaiming yarn from thrift shop sweaters. There's so many awesome sweaters out there, why not try your hand at being "green" and Frugal? <br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Please be kind, this is my first tutorial video, and its a little long, but really helpful! I decided to use a 100% cotton sweater that my video camera could easily focus on, and so that everyone can clearly see the stitches used!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<object class="BLOGGER-youtube-video" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0" data-thumbnail-src="http://i.ytimg.com/vi/BalhEiwdLd8/0.jpg" height="266" width="320"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/BalhEiwdLd8?version=3&f=user_uploads&c=google-webdrive-0&app=youtube_gdata" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#FFFFFF" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><embed width="320" height="266" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/BalhEiwdLd8?version=3&f=user_uploads&c=google-webdrive-0&app=youtube_gdata" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So, after this video, here's my final product:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LD6PsA2dLJw/UB9uZTCAdyI/AAAAAAAAMG4/oFO9lebDSlU/s1600/IMG_4847.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="245" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LD6PsA2dLJw/UB9uZTCAdyI/AAAAAAAAMG4/oFO9lebDSlU/s320/IMG_4847.JPG" width="320" /></a>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Beautiful, soft, commercial spun cotton. Since it's designer/commercial-spun, it's soft enough for next to skin wear, something you don't get at most big box yarn stores. Usually cotton this soft will run you $12-15 a skein. And this stuff? Cost me $1.99 and a few hours worth of work! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
If you're a crafter, you'll love recycling yarn. Why? Because it's the same satisfaction as ripping out/frogging a bad project!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Here's some helpful images, in case you didn't catch them from the video:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XPGjfBnUDjQ/UB9tY_sgccI/AAAAAAAAMGc/N3CBNavYYPc/s1600/IMG_4628.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XPGjfBnUDjQ/UB9tY_sgccI/AAAAAAAAMGc/N3CBNavYYPc/s320/IMG_4628.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Find the seaming thread, and pull up on it so you can see where the seam starts</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-v6B7a4rr6UI/UB9tZ33pRSI/AAAAAAAAMGk/PKsWjfemEco/s1600/IMG_4631.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-v6B7a4rr6UI/UB9tZ33pRSI/AAAAAAAAMGk/PKsWjfemEco/s320/IMG_4631.JPG" width="240" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Slowly weave the seam thread out from the seam to start frogging the sweater!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
So I've been recycling yarn from sweaters for the past week. Here's HALF of what I've done so far:<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lb7BZZIjSko/UB9uF-8OCgI/AAAAAAAAMGw/qXQVRubN_8s/s1600/IMG_4761.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lb7BZZIjSko/UB9uF-8OCgI/AAAAAAAAMGw/qXQVRubN_8s/s320/IMG_4761.JPG" width="253" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I've got cotton ribbon yarn (grey), bulky wool blend yarn, super soft blue cotton, and high end angora! So awesome! I've got almost 4 different weights and types of yarn, and it didn't break the bank!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Don't think you have time for recycling yarn? Then try my Etsy Shop! I'll be listing more yarn over the next couple of days, including some lovely lace merino yarn, and some 100% cashmere yarns!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Unfortunately, things never go as planned.<br />
<br />
Work called, so I had to go in. Luckily that didn't last too long, so I decided to pop Bender and my Japanese bicycle into the Trailblazer and head on down to the Dismal Swamp Canal trail for a quick ride with Bender.<br />
<br />
While we were two miles deep into the Dismal Swamp Canal trail, my phone's weather alert (as well as several concerned text messages from all of Bender's fans) let us know a storm was rolling in.<br />
<br />
It was too late. Bender and I were trapped deep in the Dismal Swamp Canal trail, with hail, lightning, rain, and high winds roaring in.<br />
<br />
It was terrifying. Two things Bender doesn't do well with: His owner under pressure, and Thunderstorms. I tried very hard to keep my cool, but that didn't help the situation. The incoming storm was so bad, Bender lost his senses. I've tried medications, negative reinforcement, and products similar to the Thundershirt, none have worked. Bender just doesn't do well with Thunderstorms. I managed to get my 81 lb. dog and my awkward vintage bike the 2.0 miles back to my Trailblazer. I tried to keep my cool, and used a lot of positive jargon to encourage Bender, but sercretly, I think a lot of what I was shouting sounded like a crazy person encouraging themself.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RwS649pxx0E/UBY2b3rniAI/AAAAAAAAMEk/YBMygYJIkEI/s1600/WP_000567.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RwS649pxx0E/UBY2b3rniAI/AAAAAAAAMEk/YBMygYJIkEI/s320/WP_000567.jpg" width="240" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">A few minutes before the storm started, Bender senses the impending doom</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
We got out of the storm, alive, but beat up pretty bad. Once we finally got back to our car, I realized how banged up I was, and that Bender was injured too. At which point I flipped out and lost my cool.<br />
<br />
Bender hurt his front footpads. One of them is scratched up a little bit, and the other is torn. It's nothing too serious, but at the time, I drove the whole way home white-knuckled with a death grip on the steering wheel.<br />
<br />
He's hurt one of his back foot pads in the past, when he was a puppy. Luckily, I followed the advice I found on <a href="http://www.dailypuppy.com/articles/how-to-care-for-a-dogs-torn-paw-pad_1247.html" target="_blank">The Daily Puppy: How to Care for a Dog's Torn Paw Pad.</a> That advice came in handy this weekend as well.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1aXY74pjhko/UBY4Q4Kb5DI/AAAAAAAAMEs/MxHD-JtrlQo/s1600/WP_000580.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1aXY74pjhko/UBY4Q4Kb5DI/AAAAAAAAMEs/MxHD-JtrlQo/s320/WP_000580.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Bender's all bandaged up, and has been a fantastic patient, according to Dr. Sock Monkey. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WmTPJ8jpk9w/UBY4RgYmHNI/AAAAAAAAME0/dR8aTW6p3Oo/s1600/WP_000582a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="277" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WmTPJ8jpk9w/UBY4RgYmHNI/AAAAAAAAME0/dR8aTW6p3Oo/s320/WP_000582a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Though he does seem a little upset with me. Since I know Ben will mess with his paws, he has to wear my knee socks the next couple of days. I'm not sure if he's mad at me for taking him to the Dismal Swamp, or because these are obviously Christmas Knee Socks. Ben is quite the Sock Connoisseur.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fcSKg_thOxM/UBY4SaqDGGI/AAAAAAAAME8/7cjTnzW_SVE/s1600/WP_000589z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fcSKg_thOxM/UBY4SaqDGGI/AAAAAAAAME8/7cjTnzW_SVE/s320/WP_000589z.jpg" width="222" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;">Bender takes some notes on how not to be scared when crazy weather hits!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;"><br /></span></div>
So, for now, Bender's being spoiled, because paw injuries are no joke. I want him better for our big trip in a few weeks. He gets rawhide chews, treats, and even a slightly bigger serving of dairy in the mornings. He even gets to lay on his new blankie (in the background of the photo). Just as long as he gets better.<br />
<br />
Thanks for reading everyone, and I'll keep you posted on Bender's foot health!<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/4517142338708122175-3118673154645220605?l=rub2nickles2gether.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>Omi S. and her dog, Bender Oak Cannonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14314727003804531502noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4517142338708122175.post-91790902649831796472012-07-25T09:45:00.000-04:002012-07-25T09:45:00.405-04:002012-07-25T09:45:00.405-04:00Just a quiet day gardening in the backyard<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Since it's been incredibly hot and humid here in Virginia, Bender and I haven't been out adventuring too much.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Considering Ben's covered in a moderate coat of black fur, he's double affected by the summer heat.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
So, we've been spending some quality time at home.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
We decided to do some gardening on my day off. I made a couple new garden boxes for my back yard, and started planting my second crop of squash<span style="background-color: white;">, and Ben helped!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

My current boxes are overflowing with cucumber vines, tomatoes (that need to grow!!!) and squash plants that aren't really fruiting so much. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So I've decided that I need a few more garden boxes to "get my farm on" and start producing food for my little family. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I now have six garden boxes, and I'm starting another round of seedlings, including lettuce, more squash, cucumbers, spinach and some various flowers (to help get stuff pollinated).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I've got a whole batch of new seedlings for my food garden, and hopefully this round will have some success!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-o_-7AiJk9rQ/UADVNjlrnXI/AAAAAAAAL7Q/pHjQimn_8U4/s1600/WP_000520.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-o_-7AiJk9rQ/UADVNjlrnXI/AAAAAAAAL7Q/pHjQimn_8U4/s320/WP_000520.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Ben's pretty excited too!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And even though Ben's not always the best guard dog, I've planted a little extra luck and protection near my new seedlings!</div>

Blogging. It's not easy.<br />
<br />
Especially when it comes to sharing your blog with others.<br />
<br />
I just spent 40 minutes trying to do this:<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<center><center><a href="http://rub2nickels2gether.blogspot.com/" target="_blank" title="LeftOvers4Dinner"><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XmsBuizrDKE/UA4n6Sf7dfI/AAAAAAAAMD8/2IyLrasUpEw/s800/New%2520Blog%2520Button%2520LO4D.jpg" /></a> <center>
</center><center><textarea id="code-source" name="code-source" rows="3"><center><a href="http://rub2nickels2gether.blogspot.com/"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XmsBuizrDKE/UA4n6Sf7dfI/AAAAAAAAMD8/2IyLrasUpEw/s1600/New+Blog+Button+LO4D.jpg" /></a></center></textarea></center><center><br /></center><center style="text-align: left;">What is this? This is a blog button, and it nearly made me pull my hair out trying to get it to work. There's tons of online resources out there to help you make your own blog button, all of them extremely helpful. My problem was using Picasa Web Albums and getting the Photo provider to share with me a standard HTTP link. </center><center style="text-align: left;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: left;">Along with this, I'm currently trying to find a way to share my <a href="http://www.youtube.com/user/Leftovers4Dinner/videos" target="_blank">Youtube Channel</a> with everyone interested in videos about Geocaching, Letterboxing, and Arts n Crafts. I know that's a pretty wide audience, but if the CheapGeek can have a variety of followers, so can I. For now, click<b><a href="http://www.youtube.com/user/Leftovers4Dinner/videos" target="_blank"> here</a></b> to see the videos I have uploaded (the Geocaching videos featuring Bender seem to be quite popular).</center><center style="text-align: left;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: left;">While I haven't quite figured out how Pintrest can help my blog, or my Etsy shop, I've got a Pintrest account happening. I like to feature my best videos, and all my new Etsy items on it. I have yet to figure out if I've gotten any new followers from Pintrest, but check me out<b><a href="http://pinterest.com/LeftOverJunk/" target="_blank"> here</a></b>.</center><center style="text-align: left;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: left;">Also, my friend Ty got me hooked on a website called My Fitness Pal. It's inspired me to make slightly better food choices (as far as quantity, I'm still gonna eat junk food and leftovers, just smaller amounts of them, lol).</center><center style="text-align: left;"><br /></center><center style="text-align: left;"><a href="http://www.myfitnesspal.com/"><img border="0" src="http://badges.myfitnesspal.com/badges/show/2556/9115/25569115.weight-lost-sm.gif" /></a></center></center></center><br />
<div style="text-align: center; width: 226px;">
<small>MyFitnessPal - <a href="http://www.myfitnesspal.com/">Free Calorie Counter</a> </small></div>
<br />
Also, I'm trying to get more fans on my Facebook Fan page. It seems blog parties and following others isn't doing the trick. And neither is providing non-stop Cute content of Mr. Bender here:
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">This is Bender, hiding in the tub from the huge mass of Fans... Or thunderstorms. Same thing<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Anyhow, feel free to stop by the <a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/LeftOvers4Dinner/124890407575598?ref=hl" target="_blank">Facebook Fan page</a> and say "Hi!"<br />
<div>

<div>
Or check out the new stuff in the Etsy shop, LeftOvers4Dinner.</div>

<br />
Like crafting! I've done more crocheting the past week and a half than I've done in months.<br />
<br />
I'm nearly finished with a shawl/scarf combo for this fall. It's really pretty, but kinda hard to take pics of.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Vzgu9ZMP-xk/UA1xocc7c0I/AAAAAAAAMCk/RbxAv1Xxybg/s1600/IMG_4664.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Vzgu9ZMP-xk/UA1xocc7c0I/AAAAAAAAMCk/RbxAv1Xxybg/s320/IMG_4664.JPG" width="320" /></a>
<br />
<br />
Luckily, CheapGeek got me a new toy for taking pictures, and I totally dig it! I got a Kodak Gripping Tripod for my little Canon PowerShot camera. It's really helping me improve some of my photos.<br />
<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="270" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/RFreej9keU0?fs=1" width="480"></iframe><br />
<br />
<br />
Now, I can get super cute pics of my crochet projects, and also of my new stuff for my Etsy Shop!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I love taking progress shots. This is what the scarf/shawl (it's a really, really big scarf?) looks like so far, and I'm already running out of yarn, lol.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I managed to get some shots of the new shawl I'm working on, as well as some Etsy items I plan to list in my Etsy shop. </div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white; text-align: left;">I'm starting to evolve my Etsy shop to include both Vintage items and Collectibles, and a variety of the handmade items I make. Check out the current items in the LeftOvers4Dinner Etsy Shop:</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I plan to list more items over the course of the week, to keep the shop fresh and in the spotlight. I'm also going to start including some very interesting handmade items too!<br />

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
We were super excited because Bender got to meet some new four-footed pals and their humans, and I got a little break from being Bender's primary source of entertainment.... Plus, I got to finally see my friend's new place!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I realized I'd never been over to their place before, so, being the person I am, I felt it was only appropriate to bring them a Housewarming gift. I asked Bender for some suggestions....</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--Qok26spf8Q/UAM3PgOPH0I/AAAAAAAAL78/X9t-pB3I8Xw/s1600/WP_000364.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--Qok26spf8Q/UAM3PgOPH0I/AAAAAAAAL78/X9t-pB3I8Xw/s200/WP_000364.jpg" width="150" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
But he was pretty much out of ideas, and out of dirty socks (his favorite present for guests that come over). So he just sat on the couch and watched tv.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So, I looked at what I had, and came up with a Vegetable basket!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_yv2kxY-VZo/UAM30IteWEI/AAAAAAAAL8E/R7bLCRkT-6U/s1600/IMG_4612.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_yv2kxY-VZo/UAM30IteWEI/AAAAAAAAL8E/R7bLCRkT-6U/s320/IMG_4612.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I upcycled an old gift basket i got a while back and put some little fun things together for a cute summer treat.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then I added some green paper in the bottom, and used some twine I picked up for 25 cents in a big bag of ribbon and twine from the thrift shop.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Erik and Namie are just as crazy as I am over getting fresh produce in the suburbs, without going to the grocery store, so I thought they would dig it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I grabbed a selection of various cucumbers from my garden, a single Zucchini Squash (the first one!), some sweet peppers, and some early Red Chilis. I picked them early while they were still super dark green, just in case Erik was fooling about how spicy he liked peppers.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I felt weird just bringing over vegetables. I don't know why, but I did. Probably the "humble" in me.... So I added some crocheted drink coasters that looked like doilies in a fresh white cotton (super easy pattern!), and some handmade garden signs. I really hope Namie like's the signs, their so easy, yet so cute and garden cottage style! I picked up a stack of these crafted signs long long ago. It looks like their just distressed wood, Garden wire, and a pasted seed packet cover. I'll be making some next fall</div>
